4extension arm broke
By lbartt
This is the first truly squirrel proof feeder that I've found, and believe me I've had several! My home backs up to a patch of woods, so critters are abundant. As long as this is placed away from the trees or other structures that the squirrels can launch from, it is impossible for them to get the seed. However, I had to move the feeder from it's location to put in a new deck, and when I tried to put it back, one extension arm broke off as I was trying to put the auger back into the ground. I now have it supported by the remaining two arms wedged under the edge of my deck. Overall an excellent product. I've had this for over a year.

5Great feeder!
By JanieD
I enjoy feeding the birds, but I haven't enjoyed bird feeders. They tip, fall over or the feeder comes off. Because I am a droll yankee myself (from Connecticut) I was hesitant about paying this much for a bird feeder. Well, it's worth every penny! It was a cinch to install--even for an old lady like me-- and the augur arms make the feeder nice and steady on the ground. The squirrels are irritated they can't get onto the feeder, which also delights me--they are welcome to the seed that the birds kick onto the ground. As other reviewers have noted, it takes a bit for the birds to come. I snapped a wooden chopstick in two and inserted the pieces into two of the seed holes. Now I have a crowd of birds, including cardinals who seem quite happy to perch and eat. The feeder is not as tall as it would seem from the description, because the last foot or so is consumed by the feeder--it doesn't sit on top but is threaded through the pole. That's good for stability of the feeder, but I ended up buying a Droll Yankee 2' extension to get the feeder up high. It's not a problem filling because you can loosen the clamp the feeder sits on and slide it down the pole to add the bird seed. Yes, an excellent product indeed.

4Love it!
By Mary Huff
I have had this feeder for over a month now and I love it. I was getting a lot of squirrels at my feeders and though I like them, I couldn't afford to feed them. I got this feeder and no more squirrels except for what they pick up underneath it. It took the birds a while to get used to it and start feeding on it but once they did it works great. The Rose Breasted Grosbeaks were the first ones to dare use the new feeder and I put twigs on it to encourage them. Now I don't need the twigs and there are a wide assortment of birds at the feeder. The one change I would make is to make the top bell larger to keep the seed drier when it rains. I bought a larger bell and put it over the existing one and that works well. I feel I got a feeder that I finally like and will keep for a long time.
